This heavenly little plantation retreat lies on a hillock above the banks of the River Rungeet, deep in the Himalaya and is overlooked by the mighty Kanchenjunga. Home to generations of tea planters, it was originally established in 1860 and remains today a working tea estate. It is has been beautifully restored with much love and care, whilst retaining the style of a colonial planter's bungalow, and is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay. The bedrooms have been charmingly decorated, with each following a different theme and being very comfortable and spacious, yet warm and cosy. Sitting on the lovely, flower filled verandah, gazing across the garden to Kanchenjunga, will quickly transport you back in time. With 4 rooms in the 'Burra Bungalow' (3 with adjoining single rooms) and 4 rooms in the stunning new Chota Bungalow, it is the perfect place to take in its entirety and to be based at for visiting Darjeeling or to simply enjoy the magnificent views. There is plenty to do by way of private tours of the tea estate and an abundance of mountain activities – where else can you walk all day in the mountains and return to such luxury at night! Perhaps the highlight of Glenburn, however, is the incredibly friendly team of staff, your charming hostess, and some of the most delicious, fresh food to be found in India – a perfect balance of Indian, Oriental and Western. Don't miss the chicken sandwiches and the chocolate brownies!

ACCESS: is by air to Bagdogra, followed by a 2 ½ hour drive. It is also easily accessed from Gangtok, Kalimpong, Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri (railway station).
